The River Museum (Museu do Rio), in the small village of Guerreiros do Rio, near Alcoutim, preserves traditions, techniques, artifacts and memories linked to the Guadiana River and the riverside populations. It portrays the heritage related to the river, resorting to the study of the natural heritage, fluvial ethnography, local history and industrial archeology linked to the river, shipbuilding, tidal mills, etc.

Its objective is to preserve the identity, customs and traditions of the local populations, being an instrument for disseminating and valuing their history and knowledge.
